MANILA, Philippines - Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. asked the public on Monday for prayers as he faces contempt charges for refusing to attend hearings of the Senate Blue Ribbon sub-committee.
Binay reiterated that he initially agreed to attend Senate hearings as a resource person in the hopes of clearing the name of his father, Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The Vice President is facing corruption allegations for the overpriced Makati City Hall Building II and the younger Binay was invited by the Senate Blue Ribbon sub-committee to testify.

Binay added that he also wanted to help reveal the truth but he noticed that some senators have already taken sides.
The three senators that Binay was referring to were Sens. Antonio Trillanes IV, Teofisto Guingona III and Aquilino Pimentel III who presented the decision to file contempt chanrges against the Makati mayor and five others.
Last Friday, Guingona issued a final warning for Binay to attend the Senate hearings on the corruption allegations against their family.
The Blue Ribbon Committee has warned Binay of possible and detention.
