What Pope Francis wrote in Palace guest book
MANILA, Philippines — Pope Francis signed the Malacañang Palace's guest book as is customary for visiting heads of state as part of his courtesy call on President Benigno Aquino III on Friday.
The Roman Pontiff, a native Argentine who is fluent in Italian, inscribed a short message in English and placed the date before signing it with the name he took on as pope, "Francis."
"On the President and people of His beloved land the Philippines, I ask Almighty God's abundant blessings of wisdom, discernment, prosperity and peace," he wrote.
Francis also delivered a speech before the Philippines' government officials and diplomatic corps, urging leaders to be honest and live with integrity.
He also upheld the critical role of the family and the youth in the country's development. - Camille Diola
