13 nabbed for indiscriminate firing, banned firecrackers

MANILA, Philippines - A total of 13 persons have been arrested for possession of illegal firecrackers and for indiscriminate gun-firing during the Holidays, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Monday.
As of December 29, the PNP said cops also confiscated more than 16,000 illegal pyrotechnics and firecrackers which include Super Lolo, Lolo Thunder, Goodbye Philippines, Watusi, Picollo, Mother Rockets, Pillbox, Boga, Big Judah’s Belt, Big Bawang, Kwiton and Kabasi.
The PNP estimated the seized banned firecrackers to be worth more than P10,000.
The number has been recorded since the government's "Iwas Paputok 2014" campaign started last Dec. 16, the PNP said.
Aside from the firecracker related incidents, the PNP also recorded 10 cases of stray bullets, which injured seven persons.
Meanwhile, the PNP monitored nine illegal discharge of firearms incidents, which resulted to the wounding of four individuals.
