TV5, QC partner for biggest New Year countdown
MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and TV5 president and CEO Emmanuel Lorenzana signed a memorandum of understanding sealing both parties’ commitment in bringing the biggest, grandest and most spectacular New Year countdown on Dec. 31 at the Quezon Memorial Circle.
At the city’s flag-raising ceremony last Monday, Bautista announced the Quezon City government’s partnership with TV5 in bringing what is expected to be the grandest of all New Year celebrations in the country.
Entitled “Happy sa 2015: The Philippine New Year Countdown,” the event is designed to be the Philippine counterpart of world-famous New Year celebrations in Times Square, New York; The Eye in London, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, The Opera House in Sydney and all other popular New Year events all over the world.
Festivities begin at 10 a.m. at the Quezon Memorial Circle where TV5 will hold an “artista search” for the next big “Kapatid” talent. Live band shows, street performances and an LGBT parade will be held simultaneously.
In the evening, a star-studded New Year Special Concert will be hosted by Ogie Alcasid, Alice Dixson and Derek Ramsay, featuring live performances from the hottest and most popular Kapatid talents and other special guests.
This will conclude with the country’s longest and brightest New Year pyro-musical display and lights show in the very heart of Quezon City – the iconic pylon at the center of the Quezon Memorial Circle.
“‘Happy sa 2015: The Philippine New Year Countdown’ is our gift to the Filipino people. As we bring light and feel-good programs to our audiences this 2015, we have committed to start the year right with happiness, positivity and optimism. It’s really going to be a happy 2015 with the Happy Network,” said Lorenzana.
The TV5 president and CEO also thanked the Quezon City government for partnering with the network in bringing the most spectacular New Year event to the Filipino people.
Meanwhile, Bautista lauded TV5 for partnering with “the City of Stars,” saying that the event goes with his government’s advocacy of minimizing New Year-related accidents and emergencies.
“We are glad to have partnered with TV5 in this endeavor. We encourage every Filipino, especially our very own citizens, to join us at the Quezon Memorial Circle to celebrate and welcome the new year as a community,” said Bautista.
The signing of the memorandum of understanding was witnessed by TV5’s SVP/head of programming Dan de Padua, FVP and head of Media5 Jane Basas, head of network marketing Melvin Nubla, chief finance officer Anna Bengzon and chief entertainment content officer Wilma Galvante; and by Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and city administrator Aldrin Cuña.
