MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Jejomar Binay's political foe in Makati City filed another plunder complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman on Tuesday.
Lawyer Renato Bondal accused Binay and his son, Makati City Mayor Erwin Jejomar Binay, in the alleged overpricing of the Makati Science High School Building, which was brought up in the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee hearing last month.
Also tagged as respondents for alleged violations of Republic Act 7080 or the Anti-Plunder Law are Makati City councilors from 2007 to 2013 and members of the city's school board in 2009.
In the affidavit, Bondal claimed that Binay, who was the city mayor in 2007, and other officials pocketed over P862 million from funds allotted for the school building.
Commission on Audit Chair Grace Pulido Tan had estimated the 10-storey establishment to be worth only P348 million.
An earlier plunder complaint filed by Bondal against Binay stemmed from the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall II parking building.
