'Ruby' weakens into tropical depression

MANILA, Philippines - "Ruby" (international name Hagupit) has weakened into a tropical depression, the state weather bureau said Tuesday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 4 a.m., the center of the cyclone was estimated at 80 kilometers southwest of Ambulong, Tanauan City in Batangas or 90 kilometers west northwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

The cyclone was packing maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometers per hour, moving west at the speed of 13 kph.

PAGASA said that based on the cyclone's current speed and direction, it will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday night.

Storm warning signals have been lifted from provinces in the Visayas and other areas in Luzon and Mindanao.

Public storm warning signal number 1 remains hoisted over Metro Manila, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna Batangas, Orientaland Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island.

The cyclone made its fifth landfall in Libang Island earlier.

PAGASA said "Ruby" will continue to bring rains in areas under storm signal number 1 and it will also cause rough to very rough sea conditions over the seaboards of Luzon.
