PhlPost offers ‘piso’ promo for domestic remittances

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Only P1 will be charged for every P1,000 domestic remittance sent through the post office under the “Pamaskong Handog Piso Padala” promo.

“This Christmas promo is one way of creating awareness of our product, which is intended to offer cheaper and easier electronic postal money transactions anywhere in the country,” said Philippine Postal Corp. (PhlPost) postmaster general Ma. Josefina de la Cruz.

She said the promo would allow the public, especially household helpers, to maximize the money they will send to their relatives.

De la Cruz said a person could only send a maximum of P2,000 per day. Regular rates will apply for remittance beyond P2,000.

PhlPost marketing management and support services manager Enrique Tagle said it is the first time that PhlPost is offering low rates for the service.

“The PhlPost has the oldest money transfer in the Philippines. Now with our electronic money transfer system we are at par with other money order companies. Send your remittance through PhlPost now and in five minutes your loved ones can pick up the money at the other post office,” said Tagle.

“This is our way of thanking the public for patronizing the PhlPost for one year…This is our Christmas gift to the public. It has been a good year for PhlPost and we want to share with them this wonderful year,” he added.

The list of participating post offices can be viewed at www.phlpost.gov.ph . Inquiries can also be coursed through 527-5782; 527-0107, 527-0151 or at [email protected] .

Meanwhile, the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) has tied up with PhlPost for the issuance of stamps promoting the country’s tourist attractions next year.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) and the TPB have adopted the theme Visit the Philippines Year (VPY) for 2015.

“To commemorate this milestone event, we would like to tie up with the Philippine Postal Corporation in the production of a special stamp bearing the VPY 2015 logo,” said TPB chief operating officer Domingo Ramon Enerio III.
