DepEd’s schedule for equivalency test out

MANILA, Philippines - The examination schedule for the Department of Education (DepEd)’s accreditation and equivalency (A&E) program for out-of-school Filipinos was released yesterday.

The examination in the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and the Cordillera Administrative Region will be held on Dec. 7.

In Calabarzon and Bicol, the examinations were set on Dec. 14, and Jan. 11 is the date in Eastern Visayas and Western Visayas.

The examinations in Zamboanga peninsula, SOCCSKSARGEN, Davao region, Northern Mindanao, CARAGA and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will be held on Jan. 18.

The examination in Metro Manila will be on Jan. 25.

The A&E program provides an alternative pathway of learning for out-of-school children, youth and adults who are literate but are not able to complete the 10 years of basic education.

It is under DepEd’s Alternative Learning System (ALS).

“Through this program, school dropouts are able to complete elementary and high school education outside the formal school system,” said DepEd.

“Through the ALS A&E certificate, an industry-based worker, or a member of a cultural minority, or the differently-abled, or an out-of-school youth or adult may pursue further formal education or career growth,” Education Secretary Armin Luistro said.
