KALIBO, Philippines (Xinhua) - At least two died and seven others were wounded when a lone gunman indiscriminately fired at the crowd in a local carnival in Aklan last night, local police reported today.
Police authorities identified the fatalities as Antonina Ricablanca, 16 and Saraki Katiniko Viray, 14. The incident happened at around 9:00 p.m.
Based on initial police investigation, a clan war is being considered as a motive in the said incident. For the past century, hundreds of people died in a family war at the hinterlands of the Central Panay Mountain Range.
Police are currently working out in identifying the suspect as investigation continues. The unidentified suspect remains at large.
