Victims' kin ask Napolcom to dismiss cops tagged in Maguindanao massacre

MANILA, Philippines - The families of the victims of the Maguindanao massacre will ask the National Police Commission (Napolocom) on Wednesday afternoon to come up with a resolution dismissing from the service the 64 policemen implicated in the carnage.

The families, through their lawyers led by Harry Roque, will file a motion for immediate resolution of the administrative case before the Napolcom office in Quezon City. The case was filed in 2009. 

Roque said they will ask the Napolocom to come up with a resolution on the grave misconduct case against the policemen involved in the massacre which left 58 people, including 32 media workers, dead.

On Nov. 23, 2009, members of the powerful Ampatuan clan, led by Datu Unsay Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr., along with some members of his private army and policemen allegedly stopped the convoy of then Buluan Vice Mayor Esmael Mangudadatu.

The gunmen then brought the members of the Mangudadatu convoy to a remote area in Barangay Masalay, Ampatuan town and killed them. 

After five years, the multiple murder case against the Ampatuan family members is still being heard by a Quezon City court due to the large number of accused which reached almost 200, most of whom are still at large.
