MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino leads today’s 75th anniversary celebration of the Department of National Defense (DND) in Camp Aguinaldo.
It will be Aquino’s first event since arriving from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations summit in Myanmar.
Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, other Cabinet members and security officials will witness the event.
A highlight of the celebration is the ceremonial turnover of the DND’s transformation road map to Aquino.
It contains the agency’s action plans to cope with new challenges while maintaining efficiency, transparency and professionalism among its ranks.
Aquino’s attendance will cap the diamond jubilee activities that started last August.

Gazmin said the job fair seeks to fill the more than 800 job openings in the DND. “Qualified and deserving Filipinos who want to serve our nation are needed,” he said.
Job openings include researchers, defense analysts, accounting and fiscal clerks, technical writers and administrative aides.
Fees were waived yesterday a the museums of the Armed Forces General Headquarters, the Army, Air Force, Navy and the Government Arsenal to promote appreciation of the country’s military history.
Other activities include the planting of more than 10,000 seedlings in various sites to rehabilitate the environment and to mitigate the impact of floods.
Bloodletting activities were also held at the Fort Bonifacio General Hospital in Taguig, Philippine Navy Officers’ Club and Ledesma Fort San Felipe in Cavite, Villamor Air Base in Pasay City and the Philippine Veteran Affairs Office court in Quezon City.
