MANILA, Philippines - Internet hacktivist group Anonymous Philippines hacked government sites on Monday, calling for a mask protest.
According to youth group Anakbayan, the hacktivist group attacked the following websites:
http://laguna.gov.ph/gov_
http://laguna.gov.ph/
http://ictconvention.dti.gov.
http://paoaccreditation.dti.
http://msme.dti.gov.ph/index.
"To the public, our friends, our brothers and sisters within the global community; get your masks out. Any mask will do. any political affiliation will do, because in the end isn't it just us peasants against the monarchs?" the group said on the statement they posted on hacked sites.
The group further said that they will wear masks to show solidarity in the belief that the government failed.
"This is an indication of growing anger vs BS Aquino government's corruption, the continuing misuse of government funds, cronyism and unabated hikes," Anakbayan National Chairperson Vencer Crisostomo said on a media release.
Anonymous Philippines recently hacked Chinese websites as a protest against Beijing's increasing aggression on the West Philippine Sea. The group was first known when they hacked multiple government sites as a protest against the anti-cybercrime law in 2012.
