PNoy: Binay is free to leave Cabinet if he is unhappy

Patricia Lourdes Viray - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III said on Monday that Vice President Jejomar Binay is free to leave the Cabinet if he is unhappy with the administration's decisions.

"At the minimum, he is the Vice President of the land. He has criticisms... to be constructive he has to have solutions and if he has some, I have not heard these solutions in these Cabinet meetings. So if he has solutions he should’ve shared them," Aquino said in an ambush interview in Laguna.

The President reiterated that Binay, being the second highest official in the government, has an obligation to share knowledge and sustainable solutions if he thinks the government is doing something wrong.

Asked if he still trusts Binay amidst allegations of corruption, Aquino said that the vice president's "questionable wealth" was acquired before he was elected to his present position.

Aquino admitted that he is contented with Binay's performance as the head of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.

Binay recently criticized the administration for its "selective justice" in its anti-corruption campaign and for implementing the Disbursement Acceleration Program which was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
