MANILA, Philippines - • The STAR’s Zinnia dela Peña was named Best Finance Reporter in the EJAP-Globe Business Journalism Awards held at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila last Friday night. The annual awards are given by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines in recognition of its members’ performance during the previous year.
This year’s judges were headed by Milwida Guevara, chief executive officer of Synergeia Foundation and included former energy undersecretary Jose Layug Jr., Seair president Avelino Zapanta and Capital Markets Institute of the Philippines chairman Reynaldo Nograles.
Former Monetary Board member Melito Salazar, ECHOstore owner Pacita Juan, ING country manager Consuelo Garcia and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas International Relations Office head Editha Martin were also in the panel of judges.
IMF representative to the Philippines Shanaka Peiris was keynote speaker while Rey Lugtu, vice president at Globe, gave an inspirational message as his firm remained EJAP’s partner for the awards.
