MANILA, Philippines - Not long after the infamous EDSA brigandage case, another incident involving a policeman went viral on social media. But this time a motorist is lauding a cop for helping her and her husband fix their malfunctioning car along the highway.
The Facebook post of Joann Angeles delos Santos about the “good deed” of Senior Police Officer 1 Ariel Camiling of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 8 has been shared 1,299 times as of yesterday.
Delos Santos said her vehicle suddenly stopped along EDSA on the morning of Oct. 11, and she and her husband had been stuck on the road for several minutes when Camiling arrived.
“I was so frightened that he (Camiling) might give us a (violation) ticket and force us to be towed. We told him that we’re stuck and that the car won’t start,” Delos Santos recounted.
“He (Camiling) checked the car and he found what caused the problem – the contact point in the distribution assembly broke. Good thing we have a spare! So he guided my husband in replacing it and adjusted the installation until the car went live again,” she said.
Delos Santos said she offered Camiling “a small amount for merienda” but the police officer turned it down.
