MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon Neneng brought heavy rains as it left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) yesterday morning, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Neneng was heading toward southern Japan.
The typhoon was recorded to have maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph.
Neneng enhanced the northeasterly winds, causing rough to very rough seas along the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, weather experts said.
PAGASA said Central Visayas, Zamboanga peninsula and Negros Occidental would have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms due to an
intertropical convergence zone affecting southern Mindanao.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas would be moderate to rough.
Winds coming from the northeast to northwest over the rest of Luzon and from the west to southwest over the rest of the country will be light to moderate.
