Purisima tags critics as 'tenacious, rabid'

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Alan Purisima on Thursday described as "tenacious" and "rabid" his critics from some media personalities and certain groups.
"These are just a couple of words to describe the attacks certain quarters have launched against me. As I told the Senate, marami na ho tayong nakasuhang mga kriminal, at pati na mga matataas na tao, at pati mga dating opisyal mismo ng PNP, kung kaya’t marami ang nagagalit sa atin at gustong gumanti sa pamamagitan ng paninira sa atin," Purisima said in his opening statement during a press conference.
He said the attacks and smear campaign against him started after news TV program showing aerial footage of his property in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.
At the same press briefing, Purisima thanked President Benigno Aquino III for his continuing trust and confidence in him amid the controversies.
Purisima is now facing plunder and graft charges for his alleged unexplained gotten wealth and the construction of the so-called PNP White House inside Camp Crame.
