MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) presented the complete draft of the new Criminal Code which it said will address crime.
“The Criminal Code Committee headed by our Assistant Secretary Geronimo L. Sy finally completed a simple and relevant output that will address a systematic criminal justice issue – a clear and consistent criminal law for the country,” Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said.
A total of 120 participants from the criminal justice sector including executive, legislative and judiciary agencies were the first to see the complete draft of the new code at a forum held in the National Capital Region today.
The presentation is first of a series of nationwide consultations for participants to contribute innovations and for the DOJ to gather inputs for the code.
Sy said the DOJ will continue to publish policy papers and research studies.
The draft Criminal Code is available and can be downloaded at www.doj.gov.ph, DOJ said.
