MANILA, Philippines - Registration forms for the February 2015 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections are now available online, Commissioner Al Parreño announced Wednesday.
Online accessibility aims to bring the application process closer to the youth, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
All Filipino citizens aged 15 to 17 and have resided in their barangays for at least six months by election are qualified to register and vote in the SK elections on Feb. 21, 2015.
Registration will run until September 29. Online registration forms are available at the Comelec website.
Those who will register online should fill-out the downloaded application form and bring three unsigned copies to the local Comelec office.
Documents establishing the identity and qualifications of the applicant such as their birth certificate or school records must be presented upon registration.
The SK elections were supposed to be held last year, but it was postponed by the Congress due to calls for its abolition.
"Congress instead voted to postpone the elections, in order to have time to pass a law that would either amend or revise the SK system,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said.
