VP Binay willing to undergo lifestyle check
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Jejomar Binay on Monday said he is confident that his accusers will not be able to prove allegations of corruption through a lifestyle investigation.
In a radio report on Monday, Binay told reporters that he and his family are willing to undergo a lifestyle check to disprove accusers. The vice president and his son, Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay are being accused of pocketing money from the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall II parking building as well as other anomalous activities during his term as the city mayor.
A lifestyle check is done to determine the existence of ill-gotten and unexplained wealth of government officials and employees.
Binay also said he is still mulling whether to accept the invitation to appear at the Senate Blue Ribbon sub-committee investigation on the parking building project.
The vice president delivered a speech on Thursday in an attempt to clear his name on recent corruption allegations.
