Group sees stable prices of basic goods

Eva Visperas - The Philippine Star

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – The president of the multi-agriculture alliance Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (Sinag) is optimistic there would be no hike in the price of basic goods from September to December when demand is expected to rise.

Sinag chairman Rosendo So told Bombo Radyo Dagupan yesterday that there is no problem with the supply of chicken because areas in Southern Luzon hit by recent typhoons have recovered and local production is sufficient.

So also warned consumers not to buy frozen meat that are expired.

He said producers of frozen meat must put an expiry date on their produce and the name of the supplier.

Meat nearing its expiry date is sold at bargain price abroad and importers bring these into the country to be sold, he said.

He said consumers must be wary as these may no longer be fit for human consumption.
