Abus behead militiaman in Basilan
MANILA, Philippines - A paramilitary man was beheaded allegedly by Abu Sayyaf rebels in Basilan, a photo of which was circulated on popular social network site Facebook.
The beheading of Hadji Aldam, a member of the Special Civilian Armed Auxiliary (SCAA), was supposedly carried out after Abu Sayyaf men saw the killing of American journalist James Foley by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria rebels, also uploaded on social networking sites.
Senior Superintendent Mario Dapillosa, Basilan Police provincial director, confirmed the beheading of Aldam, who served as a security guard for Tumahubong Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Integrated Development Corp. in Sumisip, Basilan.
The photo of the beheading has gone viral in social networking sites.
It showed the severed head of Aldam placed on top of pieces of wood with a bolo in front and two rebels seated on a bench. Two others were standing holding the Abu flag.
The rebels’ faces were covered with cloth masks and only their eyes could be seen.
Dapillosa said they had already recovered Aldam’s body.
