Enzo slay 'mastermind' indicted for gun possession
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice approved Monday the filing of charges against a businessman suspected to be the mastermind behind the murder of champion racer Enzo Pastor.
In a seven-page resolution, Prosecutor General Claro Arellano said Domingo de Guzman III should be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition violating Republic Act 10591.
De Guzman was arrested in an entrapment operation last August 26 in Muntinlupa City. Seized from him were two firearms loaded with ammunication.
The businessman, a resident of Parañaque City, allegedly paid police officer Edgar Angel an amount of P100,000 to kill Pastor last June 12. Police said De Guzman and Pastor's wife, Dalia, are deemed to have had an affair and plotted to shoot the international race car driver.
Besides having submitted his extrajudicial confession following his arrest, Angel was ordered to submit his counter-affidavit on September 2.
The suspected gunman also signed a waiver stating he voluntarily surrendered his right under Article 125 of the Revised Penal Code penalizing his as a public officer for failing to deliver a person to the proper judicial authorities within 12 hours.
