2 LPAs to bring rains this week
MANILA, Philippines - Two low-pressure areas will cause rains to continue in some parts of the country in the next few days.
As of 4 a.m. yesterday, the low-pressure areas were located 500 kilometers west of Ambulong, Batangas and 1,550 kilometers east of Mindanao.
Robert Sawi, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) senior weather forecaster, said the low-pressure area off Batangas has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone.
“It will remain as low-pressure area embedded along the intertropical convergence zone, affecting the Visayas and Mindanao,” he said.
In the next three days, the Caraga, Davao, Northern Mindanao and Western Visayas regions, and the province of Palawan can expect cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, PAGASA said.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council yesterday alerted parts of the Visayas and Mindanao for possible floods.
In a general flood advisory yesterday, NDRRMC said the low-pressure area could affect water courses in Western Visayas, Davao and Caraga regions.
Light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms in Western Visayas could affect water bodies in Iloilo, Antique, Capiz and Aklan.
The weather condition might also affect Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental. Compostela Valley and Davao del Sur.
