Leftists want me ousted – Noy
MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino believes the radical Left wants to oust him so they filed four impeachment complaints against him before the House of Representatives.
Speaking with anchor Elmar Acol on Bombo Radyo Wednesday afternoon, Aquino said the Left is “probably angry at me” as their number is dwindling because many people are regaining their trust in the government.
“It’s just part of the process when I said: ‘Alright I accept the challenge to lead the nation again’,” he said in Filipino.
Aquino said he feels vindicated that he ran in the May 2010 elections, if only to prove that the Left could hardly entice recruits to their diminishing fold due to their perpetual hardcore anti-government stance.
“Many members of leftist groups have rallied many times in front of my house on Times street when they are angry at me, when we all know that I’m not there,” he said in Filipino.
Aquino said justice will prevail, sooner or later.
“At the end of the day, I believe that we will have justice,” he said.
Justice would mean dismissal of the impeachment complaints for lack or merit, he added.
Aquino believes he would be able regain the people’s trust and confidence after the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) and pork barrel controversies brought down his ratings.
“In my view, our numbers will go up again. It’s our job to explain properly so we would get back the trust of those who had doubts,” he said.
He cited the achievements of his administration in empowering the people through various programs and projects such as the conditional cash transfer (CCT) program.
Aquino said surveys could serve as good guides on what more could be done for the people, his bosses, and that he was aware that some have become dissatisfied or undecided.
Those who are confused probably failed to get a good grasp of the issues, he added.
Aquino expressed confidence that after all the communication efforts undertaken, his trust, approval and satisfaction ratings would become higher.
