What Aquino will do after his term ends

President Aquino delivers his speech during the commemoration of the 116th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine Independence at Plaza Quince Martires in Naga City, Camarines Sur on June 12.

MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III will celebrate his freedom once he relinquishes his power.

In a light-hearted moment during an interview with Bombo Radyo, Aquino shared some of his plans if and when he steps down from his post in 2016.

"One year and 10 months from now, palagay ko kasama ko si Usec. [Rey] Marfil at saka si Asec. [Jun] Delantar sa July 1, the day after bumaba tayo sa puwesto, at kakain kami ng masarap talaga, tapos may streamer na nakalagay sa likod namin, 'Kalayaan'," Aquino said in the interview aired on Thursday morning.

Aquino's statement may seem an indication of his lack on interest on lifting the term limits for the president.

In the same interview, Aquino said he is not a "masochist" who would take the burden of the presidency beyond 2016. He even admitted that it is his just job to find a successor.

But at the same time, the President said there are people who had urged him to stay in power. He then reiterated that he listens to the orders of his bosses.

Aquino admitted that he is consulting various sectors on how to ensure that his reforms will be continued after 2016.
