Pinoy caregiver murdered by patient in Alaska
MANILA, Philippines - A 63-year-old Filipino caregiver was shot dead by his patient in Anchorage, Alaska last week, according to a report on ABS-CBN.
Eduardo Escalante and his wife moved to the United States from the Philippines last March.
Escalante’s patient, Paul Miller, 51, dialed 911 from an assisted living home on the night of Aug. 12 and admitted to shooting his caregiver, court documents show.
Police officers found Miller with a semi-automatic handgun outside the home and found Escalante’s body with multiple gunshot wounds to his neck, arm and torso.
Miller was arrested and charged with first and second-degree murder. He is reportedly being held on $500,000 bail.
Miller has yet to say why he shot Escalante, according to reports.
