PCGG is again DOJ’s best performing agency
MANILA, Philippines - The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) again emerged as the best-performing agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The PCGG received the award after it exceeded its remittance target by a “significant” margin in 2013. It surpassed its target of P450 million, remitting P631 million last year.
For the past two years, the PCGG has also been recognized as the top-performing agency of the DOJ.
The PCGG, which is mandated to recover the ill-gotten wealth of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos, his family and cronies, has remitted P166.2 billion to the National Treasury over the last 27 years.
Among the agency’s significant achievements last year were the recovery of the West LB Fund in Singapore; the forfeiture of the Jolly Bugarin properties; the disposition of the Mapalad property; and the favorable resolution of the Vilma Bautista case in New York City.
The award is based on the Performance-Based Incentive System of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). The PBIS is a system alternative to the Productivity Enhancement Incentive.
The new system provides for bonuses that range from P5,000 for good performing employees in good performing agencies, to P35,000 for the best performing employees in the best performing agency.
