Low-pressure area to bring rains this weekend
MANILA, Philippines - Rains are expected over northern Luzon this weekend due to a low-pressure area, the state weather bureau said.
The low-pressure area was located at 750 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora as of 4 p.m. yesterday.
Rene Paciente, senior weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the low-pressure area has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone.
He said the trough of this weather system will bring light to moderate rains and thunderstorms in Central and Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao.
Paciente said the low-pressure area is likely to bring rains over northern Luzon today.
“It is expected to dissipate after crossing northern Luzon tomorrow (Sunday),” he said.
He added the low-pressure area would have little impact on the southwest monsoon.
PAGASA expects three more cyclones to enter the country this month. The next cyclone will be locally named Kanor.
