MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino is going to France in September.
This was announced last night at the Bastille or French National Day celebrations by French Ambassador Gilles Garachon at his official residence in Makati.
The President will also visit the Middle East and the United States during the trip.
Garachon likened Bastille Day or the French Revolution to the 1986 people power revolt, “celebrating liberty and equality, just like EDSA.”
Aquino’s mother Corazon was a beloved figure in France, which welcomed her as a state visitor during its bicentennial in 1989.
Garachon thanked Philippine officials led by Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario for strengthening bilateral ties, and Sta. Clara for the good weather last night.
