MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - World Bank President Jim Yong Kim is due to visit the Philippines next week, the lending agency's local office announced today.
Kim's trip to Manila on July 14 to 15 aims to "strengthen support for the country's reforms to address poverty and improve resilience to disasters and the impact of climate change."
On his first visit to the Philippines as World Bank Group president, Kim will meet with officials from government, civil society organizations, private sector, and youth organizations as well as visit Haiyan-affected areas.
World Bank said Kim will also deliver a speech at the "Daylight Dialogue: The Good Governance Challenge," a conference organized by the Office of the President of the Philippines.
