SolGen out, COA chair in short list for next SC justice
MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Audit chairwoman Grace Pulido Tan is included in the final list of Judiciary and Bar Council candidates hoping to fill the vacancy in the Supreme Court.
Tan is joined by Court of Appeals associate justices Jose Reyes Jr. and Apolinario Bruselas as well as by Quezon City Regional Trial Court Judge Reynaldo Daway.
Solicitor General Francis Jardaleza, meanwhile, was not included in the last cut over "integrity" issues raised against him.
Supreme Court spokesman Theodore Te said that one nominee was not included in the short list despite earning a majority of votes from the deciding body.
President Benigno Aquino will choose from among the four candidates who will replace Supreme Court Associate Justice Roberto Abad. - reports from Edu Punay
