Jinggoy files bail petition
MANILA, Philippines - The lawyer of Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Monday asked the Sandiganbayan to allow his client to post bail.
Lawyer Noel Malaya, who represents Estrada, filed the petition for bail before the anti-graft court's Fifth Division, hours after it ordered the arrest of the senator for plunder and graft charges.
Estrada, who surrendered to the Philippine National Police and now detained at the Custodial Center in Camp Crame, is facing plunder and 11 counts of graft cases.
The Fifth Division has set the hearing for Estrada's bail petition on June 27.
Aside from Estrada, his chief of staff Paulene Labayen and businesswoman Janet Napoles are also facing plunder charges before anti-graft court's division.
