MANILA, Philippines - Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado on Saturday visited her husband, detained Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., in his detention cell at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Quezon City.
It was Mercado's first visit following Revilla's surrender on Friday. Revilla is facing the non-bailable plunder case, among others, stemming from the alleged multi-billion scheme to divert taxpayers' money to bogus foundations of Janet Lim Napoles, the alleged pork scam mastermind.
Following his surrender, Revilla on Friday complained of suffering from migraine attack because his detention cell was "hot".
Mercado has requested that they be allowed to bring air cooler to the detention cell. The Sandiganbayan, however, would still have to approve such a request.
The congresswoman has also asked the PNP to allow their family to visit Revilla everyday.
Revilla allegedly pocketed P517 million from the scam. His camp, however, has sought to be granted bail, saying the evidence against him is weak.
