Vietnam, Phl reach AFC U14 girls semis

HO CHI MINH CITY (Xinhua) - Host Vietnam and the Philippines advanced to the semi-finals of the ASEAN zone AFC U-14 girls championship after beating Singapore and Cambodia respectively here on Thursday.

Vietnam beat Singapore 3-0 in their last group A match while the Philippines crushed Cambodia 5-0.

The Philippines finished atop Group A with three wins, including a 1-0 victory over Vietnam.

Vietnam will take on Thailand, while the Philippines meet Myanmar in the semi-finals on Saturday.

The AFC's U14 girls regional championship is being held in Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh City from June 10 to 15, with participation of seven teams from Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. They are divided into two groups and play in the round-robin format.
