(UPDATE) 1 killed, 5 injured in shooting spree in Aklan
AKLAN, Philippines (Xinhua) - A man was killed while five others, including two minors, were injured in a shooting spree in central Philippines last night, a local official said today.
Village chief Dante Berondo said in an interview that he may have been the target of the suspects who opened fire at a billiard hall in Unidos village, Nabas town in Aklan province.
"We were playing billiards when two armed men barged into the hall and one of them aimed his shotgun at me," said Berondo.
The suspect fired at random after his shotgun malfunctioned.
Berondo's younger brother Rofel was hit in the head and killed.
Berondo said the assassination attempt may have been related to a land dispute.
