PRC promulgates Code of Ethics for respiratory therapists

The PRC-Board of Respiratory Therapy adopted a resolution last May 27 stressing the need to establish “the moral standards or norms that shall govern the professional practice of every respiratory therapist in the Philippines.”

The board had consulted the Association of Respiratory Care Practitioners Philippines and other stakeholders in crafting and finalizing the code.

Under the code, a respiratory therapist “shall perform only the procedures and functions based on the job description and level of competency, in accordance with the principles of responsible practice.”

The code also stated that a therapist shall adhere to the specific work instruction to ensure safe and efficient delivery of patient care services.
