Abducted Filipina now under care of Phl embassy in KL
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday said the Philippine Embassy in Kuala took over the care of Filipina kidnap victim Marcy Dayawan, who was abducted last April 2 along with Chinese tourist Gao Hua Yun.
Dayawan decided to stay in Malaysia after her release to clear her name, DFA said.
"During the hand-over, Malaysian police authorities told embassy officials that they did not consider her as an accomplice to the kidnapping plot and had cleared her of speculations," the state agency said.
The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur thanked the Philippine and Malaysian authorities for working on the release of the two victims, and condemned the crime alegedly committed by groups from Mindanao.
“We wish that these groups desist from conducting such criminal activities, as many of the affected people in Mindanao and Sabah share a common heritage and have close affinity and blood ties. Carrying out or tolerating these criminal actions is a disservice to one’s country, fellowmen and kin,†the embassy said.
