By The Numbers: Tacloban six months after Yolanda
MANILA, Philippines - Six months after super typhoon Yolanda devastated Tacloban City, hundreds of families are still staying in makeshift shelters, tents and substandard bunkhouses.
Local officials have been asking the national government to directly download funds to the local government to be able to fast-track the rebuilding efforts for the city.
The data below somehow gives a glimpse of the situation of the typhoon-hit residents of Tacloban, and how much they need to be able to get decent shelter.
City Mayor Alfred Romualdez said in a recent press conference with Manila-based members of the media that power has yet to be fully restored in the city and less than 10 percent of the needed shelter for the displaced residents have been built.
