LIVE: Barack Obama visits Philippines, Day 2

MANILA, Philippines — US President Barack Obama visits Manila as the last stop in his fifth Asia Pacific trip, which is a manifestation of his administration's rebalancing to the region.

"It makes up in part for the trip he was not able to take last fall because of the government shutdown, with the stops in Malaysia and the Philippines, and also allows us to go visit two of our closest allies in the world, the Republic of Korea and Japan," Ben Rhodes, Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications, said in a press briefing in Washington last week.

Monday, April 28, 2014
- President Obama travels to Manila, Philippines, and participates in an arrival ceremony at Malacañang Palace.
- 1:30 p.m. Arrival in Manila
- 2:25 p.m. Obama meets with President Benigno S. Aquino III of the Philippines.
- 3:45 p.m. Obama participates in a joint press conference with President Aquino.
- 5:10 p.m. Obama greets members of the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines.
- 7:05 p.m. Obama attends a State Dinner with President Aquino at Malacañang Palace.

Tuesday, April 29, 2014
- In the morning, President Obama delivers remarks at Fort Bonifacio.
- Later that morning, Obama participates in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Manila American Cemetery.
- The president travels back to Washington, D.C.
