MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has appointed Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Delgado as the new commander of the Philippine Air Force.
Delgado will succeed Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Lauro dela Cruz, who will retire from the service on Friday.
“The AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) welcomes the appointment of Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Delgado as the new commanding-general of the Philippine Air Force,†AFP public affairs chief Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said in a text message on Thursday evening.
“Maj. Gen. Delgado is an experienced pilot who flew MG-520s and T28 Trojan, in close-air operations,†he added.
Delgado is a graduate of Philippine Military Academy class ’82. He served as a member of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) of former President Corazon Aquino after graduating from flying school.
Delgado was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Programs prior to his appointment as Air Force commander.
He was conferred the PMA Cavalier Award last February.
