‘Noah’ director says computer-generated imagery used in filming

MANILA, Philippines - Animal rights advocates need not worry about the movie “Noah” as computer-generated imagery (CGI) was used in the filming so as not to put real animals at risk.

The film’s director Darren Aronofsky recently told the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals that since the film crew did not want to put real animals at risk during the shooting, they utilized modern technology to make it appear that animals were being loaded in Noah’s ark.

“It would be very questionable to start taking sentient creatures and sticking them on a set... It’s kind of against the actual themes of the film,” Aronofsky said.

“You’re going to spend a lot more time on set dealing with a live animal. There’s really no reason to do it anymore because the technology has arrived... You can pretty much bring anything to life,” he added.

Despite the use of CGI, Aronofsky maintained that Noah is “undoubtedly a more realistic, truthful film” and that’s because the crew were able to create their “own animal kingdom.”

The movie is yet to be released in the Philippines.
