MANILA, Philippines - The overall public satisfaction rating of Pres. Benigno Aquino III slightly fell in the first quarter of the year with a marked decline in Balance Luzon, according to the latest survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
Results of the latest poll, which was conducted from March 27 to 30, said 66 percent of the survey respondents expressed satisfaction with Aquino's performance while 21 percent said otherwise.
With the latest figures, Aquino still enjoys a net satisfaction score of +45, although this is slightly lower than his overall rating of +49 in September and December last year.
The SWS survey results showed that Aquino's net score suffered a 13-point decline in Balance Luzon, falling from December’s "very good" +54 to a "good" +41.
Aquino's net rating in the Visayas fell by only a point from last quarter's "very good" +50 to a "good" +49.
But in Metro Manila, the President's net score rose by 11 points from a "moderate" +22 to a "good" +33. It also increased by two points in Mindanao, from +53 to +55.
The President obtained "good" net scores across all socioeconomic classes despite declines among the ABC and E groups.
The satisfaction rating among the ABC classed dropped by 29 points from December's "very good" +68 to a "good" +39 in the first quarter.
Among the class D, net score stayed "good" at +45 but it fell by 13 points among the Class E, from a "very good" +57 to a "good" +44.
The 2014 first quarter SWS survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide. Sampling error margins of ±3 percent for national and ±6 percent for area percentages were used in the survey. -Louis Bacani
