Gov't condemns killing of female journalist

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The government today condemned the killing of a female tabloid reporter in the province of Cavite.

Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said the Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered the creation of a special investigation task group to go after the suspects who attacked Rubylita Garcia, 52, in Bacoor City, Cavite. Garcia was a correspondent of Remate newspaper.

According to the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, Garcia was the 20th journalist killed under the Aquino government and the 160th since 1986.
