MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court 3rd Division on Wednesday issued a temporary restraining order against the Court of Appeals' earlier decision clearing businessman Delfin Lee.

SC spokesman Theodore Te announced that the previous decision which overturned syndicated estafa case against Lee and recalled the arrest warrant issued by the Pampanga Regional Trial Court has been stopped.

The high court ordered the halt amid the appellate court's signing of the Lee's petition for habeas corpus questioning his arrest by the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation.

The recent motion was the second TRO issued this week in connection with the case of Lee, charged for defrauding the Pag-IBIG Fund of P6.6 billion through a housing scam.

On Monday, the tribunal also stopped the Pasig City Regional Trial Court ruling which prevented the Department of Justice from conducting a preliminary investigation on Lee's charges.
