Globe Asiatique’s Delfin Lee arrested
MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested last night Globe Asiatique president Delfin Lee at a hotel casino in Manila.
Lee was taken immediately to Camp Crame in Quezon City for processing.
Lee was nabbed in front of the Hyatt Hotel and Casino by joint operatives of Task Force Tugis and the Manila Police District at around 6:30 p.m.
Lee was among the high-profile fugitives known as the Big 5 and carried a bounty of P2 million.
A Pampanga court ordered Lee’s arrest for allegedly defrauding Pag-Ibig Fund of almost P6.6 billion by using fake borrowers and fake documents.
He was charged with estafa but has been missing since 2012.
In November, the Court of Appeals cleared him in the case. But Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said the warrant still stands pending their court’s decision on their appeal. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
