Phl seeks world record on most number of organ donors

Jun Elias - The Philippine Star

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Philippines – The Philippines will make a bid for inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records with the most number of people to sign up as organ donors through simultaneous registration activities in six sites in the country this Feb. 28.

Antonio Paraiso, program manager of the Philippine Organ Donation and Transplantation Program (PODTP), told The STAR yesterday that the activity is not only intended to set a world record but also to increase awareness on organ donation.

“Aside from vying for the most number of potential organ donor registrants, this will also instill in the mind and heart of people the legacy of helping others,” Paraiso said at a media forum of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) here.

The six registration sites are in San Fernando City, La Union; Naga City; Tuguegarao City; Davao; Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Manila and Quezon City Memorial Circle.
