MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Saturday said more than 9,000 passengers have been stranded due to tropical depression Agaton as it makes its way through the southern parts of the country.
PCG said its three districts in Bicol and Visayas reported 9,574 stranded passengers as sea vessels have been barred from traveling due to big waves and strong winds.
PCG said most of the affected are in Matnog, Sorsogon with 7,104; followed by those in the Port of Catbalogan, 1,809; Maasin, 217; Camarines Sur, 180; Cebu, 175; Masbate, 59; and Dumaguete, 30.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration earlier raised public storm signal warning no.1 in eight provinces affected by the storm.
