Will Noy visit GMA? Palace mum

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang evaded yesterday   queries on whether President Aquino would visit former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at her place of detention in the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC).

Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said in a news briefing: “Is there a chance that the President will see her? I have no knowledge of that. None that I know of. ”

“Certainly it is something that, number one, we cannot comment on the action of former President Estrada. Each man, I suppose, will determine what course of action he will take based on what he thinks is prudent. So, insofar as that is concerned, we will not comment.”

However, Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. of the Presidential Communications and Operations Office said Arroyo’s meeting with former Presidents Fidel Ramos and Joseph Estrada could have been very good.

“We are certain that in their meeting, the two former presidents exchanged mutual compliments and messages of friendship and goodwill,” he said.

Estrada, now mayor of Manila, visited Arroyo, now a lawmaker from Pampanga, at her VMMC suite yesterday.

Ramos met with Arroyo last month after playing golf at the VMMC golf course.
