MANILA, Philippines - More than the ticket sales, the producer of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martyr†yesterday said she hopes that depicting the life of the second Filipino saint will be a tool for evangelization.
The movie’s producer Ida Tiongson said they would appreciate it if the movie earns or win awards. But they would rather see that the movie change viewers and bring them closer to God.
“If we can change one girl or boy and open up his heart to evangelism, how joyful that can be,†Tiongson said.
The movie has received overwhelming support from several Christian organizations and businessmen, Tiongson said.
She said they’ve asked parishes to help promote the movie.
“We have written to all the churches requesting that they put up posters on their bulletin boards. Many of these churches have already done that but there are those who have misplaced the posters.â€
Tiongson said there were priests who told her they want to watch the movie first before they would endorse it.
